Because I am feeding several dogs I plan their daily menus so that I know how much they eat.  That allows me to plan bulk orders with ease.  We place an order about every three months.  It is much cheaper (for us) to use the bulk food than to go to the grocery store and buy the same items so I want to be sure I get enough to last us.

Using our spreadsheet I come up with how much we go through in a month:

  • 55 pounds of RMBs
  • 50 pounds of Muscle Meat
  • 5 pounds of Organ Meat


I multiply that by 3 to figure out how much I need to order:

  • 165 pounds RMBs
  • 150 pounds Muscle Meat
  • 15 pounds Organ Meat


Next step is to contact my supplier and find out prices on the basics and see if anything is new.  My basic staples are:

  • Beef Heart
  • Pork Heart
  • Chicken Leg Quarters
  • Chicken Backs
  • Turkey Necks
  • Whole gutted Tilapia or Whiting Fillets


I try to find variety locally.  Ethic grocery stores are great for finding things.  During hunting season I can get leftover Venison.  I try to save some to feed the dogs throughout the year.  There is a rabbit supplier that delivers to our area - I buy some rabbit every now and then also.


Variety over time is the key!
